Global textile fiber producers are scaling back commodity output to navigate persistent cost pressures and trade volatility. Austrian cellulose fiber manufacturer Lenzing Group reported a 2.3 per cent decline in 9MFY26 revenue to €1.93 billion, down from €1.97 billion, as it deliberately reduced standard fiber capacity.

Margins advance amid efficiency gains

Despite revenue contractions, operating efficiencies lifted Lenzing's adjusted EBITDA margin to 18.3 per cent, up from 17.9 per cent in the prior period. Adjusted EBITDA held steady at €353 million, while reported EBITDA reached €316.4 million after absorbing €36.6 million in restructuring costs. A net loss of €130.3 million reflected lingering impairment charges. In a commercial case study, regional mills incorporating Lenzing's specialty Tencel fibers reported 12 per cent lower processing waste and improved yarn yield during high-speed spinning operations.

Strategic realignment drives outlook

Under its ‘Grow Nonwovens. Reset Textiles.’ strategy, Lenzing is shifting focus toward premium nonwoven and specialty textile markets. The third quarter marks a key milestone in our repositioning, with stable earnings proving our efficiency measures are working, states Georg Kasperkovitz, CEO, Lenzing Group.

Management projects full-year adjusted EBITDA between €430 million and €460 million despite volatile pulp prices and trade policy uncertainties.

Expanding premium specialty range

Lenzing produces wood-based cellulosic fibers including Tencel, Modal, and Viscose. It serves global textile, apparel, and nonwoven hygiene markets. The company plans to expand premium specialty lines while reducing standard commodity capacity. Target full-year adjusted EBITDA reaches €430–460 million. Founded in 1938, Lenzing continues its sustainable fiber transformation.
