German textile mE 36 fine gaugetachinery manufacturer Karl Mayer has unveiled significant advancements in its apparel machinery portfolio, introducing an upgraded TM Weft warp knitting platform engineered specifically for fashion applications. Displayed at the company’s regional showcases alongside ITMA Asia 2026, the refined system enables textile producers to generate woven-like apparel fabrics with unprecedented precision and operational efficiency.
The enhanced TM Weft integrates a new E 36 fine gauge, allowing manufacturers to substitute traditional air-jet and rapier weaving for warp-knitted alternatives that deliver natural drape, crêpe-like textures, and light structures weighing down to 63 g/sq m. By transitioning from intermittent mechanical controls to an intelligent continuous thread-tension regulation system, the machine minimizes yarn strain during high-speed runs.
Operational economics accelerate apparel factory modernization
Apparel brands demand fast pattern turnarounds alongside rigorous material consistency, states Dr Janpeter Horn, Managing Director, Warp Knitting Business Unit, Karl Mayer. The upgraded WEFT insertion platform bridges the gap between structured woven visuals and the high productivity inherent to warp knitting, allowing mills to achieve lower unit costs while accommodating rapid fashion cycles, he adds.
With global warp knitting machinery expenditure projected to grow from US$ 3.5 billion in 2025 to US$ 5.5 billion by 2035, equipment providers face pressure to balance structural versatility with raw-material flexibility. The upgraded TM Weft addresses these demands by processing delicate blends, including viscose, acetate, and stretch yarns like Lycra T400, providing mills with a versatile asset for premium womenswear and activewear production.
Strong demand across Asia-Pacific boosts revenue growth
A textile enterprise in Zhejiang, China, converted three conventional weaving lines to Karl Mayer’s TM Weft system to produce structured apparel fabrics. The transition yielded a 35 per cent reduction in energy consumption per kg of fabric besides shortened pattern setup times from days to hours using the integrated EL pattern drive, demonstrating clear commercial gains for high-end fashion suppliers.
Headquartered in Obertshausen, Germany, Karl Mayer manufactures advanced warp knitting, warp preparation, and technical textile equipment serving global fashion, home textile, and industrial sectors. Operating key production hubs in Europe and Asia, the company focuses on digitalized, resource-efficient machinery, generating steady revenue growth backed by strong demand across Asia-Pacific markets.
