Huarun Tex Co has committed $30 million investment to establish a state-of-the-art textile manufacturing facility within the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) Economic Zone in Mirsarai, Chattogram. Finalized through a land lease agreement signed on July 16, 2026, this project represents a significant expansion in local production capacity. Once the 36,000-sq-m plant reaches full operational status, it is projected to produce 24,000 tons of yarn and 20 million m of grey woven fabric annually, while creating employment for approximately 580 Bangladeshi nationals.
Strategic expansion in export zones
This investment is part of a broader trend where Chinese firms are increasingly driving industrial growth within Bangladesh’s economic zones. During the FY25–26, Chinese-linked companies accounted for nearly two-thirds of the investment commitments secured by BEPZA, totaling approximately $498.86 million across 23 projects. While the ready-made garment (RMG) sector remains a foundational interest, Chinese investors are actively diversifying into higher value-added manufacturing, including electronics, semiconductors, and technical textiles, aligning with Bangladesh's goal to upgrade its industrial capabilities.
Navigating infrastructure and growth
highlighted the need for synchronized infrastructure expansion. BEPZA officials have recently emphasized a commitment to providing a business-friendly environment to sustain this momentum. Industry experts suggest that deepening these manufacturing partnerships - coupled with technology transfers in green and sustainable textile processes - is vital for Bangladesh to mitigate trade imbalances and solidify its role in the global apparel supply chain.
Strengthening regional supply chain integration
Huarun Tex Co is a Chinese textile manufacturer specializing in high-volume yarn and grey woven fabric production. The company is currently expanding its international footprint to leverage Bangladesh's competitive textile ecosystem. This new Mirsarai facility marks a significant step in its strategy to strengthen regional supply chain integration.
