India’s total textile and clothing exports grew by 30.43 percent to $3.84 billion in December 2021, from $2.94 billion in December 2020.
As per a report by Business of Fashion, exports of cotton yarn, fabrics and handloom products increased by 66 per cent to reach $11.29 billion during the period between April to December 2021 against the export of $6.8 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
However, the rise in exports from the sector slowed in December 2021, according to data from India’s ministry of commerce and industry. Cotton textile exports in December 2021 increased by 46.19 per cent to $ 1.44 billion over the $987.76 million exports in December 2020, as per government data. Apparel exports also grew by 35.62 per cent to $11.12 billion from April to December 2021.
Growth in apparel exports also slowed in December 2021, rising by 22.63 percent to $1.47 billion over $1.2 billion in the same month of 2020.
