Rising demand for multi-occasion apparel is driving a technical shift across India's Rs 1.5-trillion suiting and shirting sector, where mill innovation is moving beyond basic stretch toward long-term shape recovery. Unveiled at a trade gathering in Mumbai, Grasim Bhiwani Textile  (GBTL) introduced FLO Memory Stretch, an occasion-wear fabric line engineered with proprietary Rebound Tech. Rather than relying on traditional elastomeric blends that degrade and sag after prolonged movement, the new material uses structured polymer memory to return to its original form. True performance in modern tailoring is measured by how precisely a fabric rebounds through an active workday, preserving structural drape without compromising mobility, noted Sushil Hada, PPC Head, GBTL.

Trend forecasting journal bridges B2B intelligence gap

Alongside material development, textile manufacturers are integrating design consulting into wholesale distribution networks. GBTL launched Flo Cast, a biannual fashion-forecasting journal translating international color movements and silhouette trends into actionable retail data. The inaugural edition, covering July 2026 to January 2027, equips designers and trade buyers to manage inventory risks across six core lifestyle segments, including business, travel, and wedding wear.

Expanding functional fabric portfolios

Acquired by the Donear Group in 2017, GBTL produces polyester-viscose, worsted wool, and advanced stretch suitings. Operating a vertically integrated plant processing 1.3 million meters monthly, the company serves global B2B markets. GBTL targets double-digit growth by expanding premium retail distribution and high-margin functional fabric portfolios.
