Indorama Ventures demonstrated the commercial scalability of circular textiles at the RECO Collective 2026 showcase. The initiative featured three fashion collections crafted from 100 per cent post-consumer recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET), targeting mainstream retail adoption. Utilizing its flagship deja recycled yarn line, the global chemical producer collaborated with emerging design labels to prove that sustainable synthetic textiles can match virgin polyester in tensile strength, dyeability, and production efficiency while reducing total carbon footprints.

Market pressures accelerate material transition

The global apparel industry faces mounting regulatory and consumer pressure to adopt traceable recycled raw materials. Recent European Union textile directives require brand portfolios to contain higher percentages of post-consumer recycled content, accelerating demand for high-grade rPET filament yarns. Commercial scale and material consistency remain the dual imperatives for global brand adoption, says Yash Sharma, Senior Sustainable Textiles Specialist. By showcasing market-ready garments, this launch validates that closed-loop polyester supply chains are financially and operational viable for bulk manufacturing.

Technical innovation and supply chain integration

A case study within the showcase highlighted a urban apparel collection using 100 per cent post-consumer PET bottles transformed into moisture-wicking activewear fabric. The process delivered identical performance metrics to conventional synthetics while utilizing 40 per cent less energy during yarn extrusions.
